Prantsuse sporditarvetekett Decathlon on otsustanud lõpetada kanuude müügi riigi põhjaosa poodides, et ohjeldada ebaseaduslikku rännet üle La Manche’i väina Suurbritanniasse.
Keti sõnul ei kasutata nende tooteid sihtottarbeliselt sportimiseks, vaid võidakse kasutada väina ületamiseks ja see seab ohtu inimeste elu.
Turvavarustuse nagu päästevestid ja soojuskaitsevahendeid müüki jätkatakse.
Prantsusmaalt üritas ametlikel andmetel aasta algusest augusti lõpuni üle La Manche’i väina Suurbritanniasse jõuda umbes 15 400 inimest. Neist 3500 päästeti merehätta sattunud paatidest ja toodi Prantsusmaale tagasi.
Eelmisel aastal ületas La Manche’i väina või üritas seda teha 9500 inimest. 2019. aastal oli nende arv 2300 ja veel aasta varem vaid 600. (STT–BNS)
